New Seismographs - 2015
This series treated my camera more like a instrument than usual. I was exploring the ideas of mapping surface texture in a conceptual way. The images were made by mounting my camera to a skateboard and riding around while holding open the shutter. The negatives were then silver printed and then contact printed to return the image back to a negative. This mimicked the scarring recorded that would have originally been burned into the emulsion. This is part of my fascination with photographs as objects themselves, as reservoirs of information whether or not it is abstract.
